Betsy Whitaker Covington joined the Community Foundation in 2001 and has since worked alongside the board and staff to lead efforts to fulfill the organization’s mission.
Previously, Betsy served for over ten years as the director of development for the Columbus Museum, where she was responsible for the museum’s efforts in fundraising, membership and audience development.
A native of Columbus, Betsy is a graduate of Vanderbilt University. She has served as president of the Georgia Council of Community Foundations, chair and current member of the Philanthropy Southeast (Southeastern Council of Foundations) Community Foundation Leadership Team, and board member of the Georgia Grantmakers Association.
A graduate of Leadership Columbus and Leadership Georgia, Betsy is a past chair of Columbus Ahead, the multi-county area’s comprehensive long-range planning effort, and has served on the executive committee of CHIPS4CHIPS, the Chattahoochee Hub for Innovation and Production of Semiconductors, and Home for Good, the implementation effort for Columbus’ 10-year Plan to Eliminate Homelessness. She is a past president and current member of the Rotary Club of Columbus.
Betsy and her husband, Rick, are the parents of two adult children, Becca and Richard.
