No. Scholarship awards are intended to provide only partial support. Students should investigate additional sources of financial aid such as those listed in financial aid offices of high schools, colleges, and public libraries. High school and college counselors can also provide information for federal financial aid.
Most of the scholarships are for schools in the United States.
Generally, scholarships used for educational costs such as tuition, fees, books, and supplies are not taxable. However, any portion of the scholarship used for room and board or miscellaneous expenses may be taxable. Please be sure to consult a tax professional for further information.
All information received is confidential and will only be reviewed by the appropriate scholarship review committee members who agree to maintain confidentiality.
Each scholarship has its own advisory committee that reviews applications and makes recommendations for scholarship recipients to the Community Foundation's Board of Trustees.
No. Scholarships are charitable grants.
Please refer to the application for the scholarship to which you are applying.
If the scholarship is a one-time scholarship, you will not receive an award the following year. For renewable scholarships, you must have your transcript sent to the Community Foundation at the end of each academic year to verify maintenance of the gpa requirements.

FAFSA stands for Free Application for Federal Student Aid. It is the first step in determining a student’s eligibility for federal, state and sometimes college financial assistance. There is no charge to complete this document. Go to http://www.fafsa.gov to begin the process.
Upon completion of the FAFSA, the student will receive a Student Aid Report (SAR). The SAR is a document providing basic information about a student’s eligibility for federal student aid as well as the answer to questions on the FAFSA. A student usually receives this document electronically.
The SAR is several pages long. Be sure to provide CFCV with page one only.
Yes, all scholarship applications require an official copy of an applicant’s transcript.
